Homecoming 2024

The Unity Walk has become a university tradition! In a showcase of unity across campus, faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members are welcome to join in this event. The Unity Walk will conclude at the Memorial Student Center Plaza with a celebration and the announcement of the 2024 Homecoming Court.

Offices across campus are encouraged to decorate their space using the Homecoming theme “The Marco Games!” Members of the Marshall University Alumni Association board of directors and other volunteers will spend the day visiting these wonderful wonderful offices. Awards will be presented on Friday, Oct. 4, during the Bonfire.

We’re turning up the flavor with a one-of-a-kind event that will tantalize your taste buds, support local businesses, and reconnect you with fellow alumni. Join us as we kick off Homecoming weekend in Downtown Huntington at several favorite restaurants! Tickets are $75 and proceeds will benefit a Marshall University Alumni Association scholarship.

Check out the annual Hoops in Huntington event highlighting Herd athletics, including introductions from student-athletes and coaches, fun activities for families and more!

A university favorite! Join us for this annual as participants pay $1 to bash the car, painted in Appalachian State’s colors, with a sledgehammer for two minutes. Sledgehammer, gloves and goggles will be provided.

Are you a graduate of the 1974 or 1999 classes? If so, please join us at the Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation for light refreshments at 5 p.m. The classes are then invited to observe the Homecoming Parade as it passes by at 6 p.m.

a Marshall Homecoming tradition! Alumni and students can enjoy a bonfire with entertainment from the Marching Thunder, Marshall University cheerleaders, plus activities and appearances by Marshall coaches and players!

Marshall University Black Alumni is pleased to announce its Black Alumni Hall of Fame with cocktails at 7:30 p.m. and reception at 8:30 p.m. in the Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall. This event will honor the achievements of the university’s most esteemed graduates. Tickets are $65 per person and a table is $600.

Come dance the night away in Marco’s in the basement of the Memorial Student Center from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. For more information, contact Corey Cunningham at cunningha189@marshall.edu. This event is free and open to everyone.

The highlight of Homecoming week! ALL are invited to this wonderful tailgating experience, hosted by the Marshall University Alumni Association and Marshall University Black Alumni! Located in the Joan C. Edwards Stadium East Lot (beside the Chris Cline Indoor Athletic Facility), come enjoy great food, hang with friends, play tailgating games, enjoy live music and performances by the Marching Thunder, Marshall University cheerleaders, and appearances by special guests including coaches and players. Don’t miss the famous Marshall Alumni & Family Tailgate in its new location prior to the game!

The Thundering Herd battles Appalachian State University in the annual Homecoming game at Joan C. Edwards Stadium!

Greek life at Marshall will compete in the Greek Stroll-Off Competition, which showcases a team’s agility, creativity and understanding of rhythm and dance as they show precision, synchronization, originality and showmanship. After the game is over, cap off the week at Marshall University Black Alumni’s Masquerade Alumni Party. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. There will be a DJ, food and more!
